Coatings Chemist and Lab Technician Trainee:

Nanochem Technologies, LLC, a dynamic industrial OEM coatings manufacturing company is seeking a chemist/ lab technician trainee to join our technical team in a position of research and development, complaint investigation and product experimentation in the segments of  OEM wood, metal and specialty coatings development and quality control. Primary formulation work to include formulating nitrocellulose and acrylic lacquers, pre and post catalyzed lacquers, conversion varnishes, and hybrid chemistries in the OEM and production wood coatings segments, primers for plastic and metal, urethanes, epoxies and alkyds. Ability to see color a plus. Also, development of ultra violet cured coatings and waterborne coatings for professional and OEM wood and metal applications.  

The ideal candidate will work with the sales team under the tutelage of the technical staff to modify existing formulations for performance, cost targets and customer desired attributes as well as do product development. Candidate will be trained to troubleshoot field application issues and work with end users to engineer systems to their specifications. 

The candidate must have a strong work ethic, take pride in his/her accomplishments, have excellent written and verbal communication skills, and be able to perform in a fast paced, high energy environment. 

Requirements:

• Minimum bachelor’s degree in organic chemistry, chemical engineering, polymer chemistry or coatings chemistry.
• Strong computer and record keeping skills
• Excellent organizational skills
• Strong technical writing / report writing skills
• Ability to multi-task and work well under pressure
• Ability to work individually and as a part of an aggressive, results-oriented team
• Must be willing to relocate to Elkhart, Indiana area
